GreatMountain Kennel History

We wanted to find a way to let you keep in touch with the pups we've produced over the years. This allows siblings to stay in touch - at least virtually - and gives others a chance to see how our puppies mature.  Also included in these pages are pups produced by studs we co-own or have produced.  The page is organized by date of birth of the litters.

Trav'ler & Cedar

On September 26, 1999, North Down X Cheena TT gave birth to two puppies, GreatMountain X North Trav'ler and GreatMountain X Cedar Adahi. These second generation cross pups were sired by GR CH 'PR' WoodsRunner Duncan.

Trav'ler remains in residence at GreatMountain. Trav'ler earned her Canine Good Citizen award in 2001 and won the National Chinook Cross Specialty in 2002. She is a sweet, affectionate dog with a strong work ethic. She's OFA Good/CERF Clear.

Cedar, lives here in Maine with Pam Anderson & Judy Bullard. When they were running a team, Cedar was an outstanding sled dog.  He's since retired from any hard work and is a loving family pet. He lives with another Chinook, Aspen, and a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Bright Eyes. He's GDC Good/CERF Clear.

On January 4, 2001, WoodsRunner X Baxter gave birth to three Chinook cross boys, WoodsRunner X Atticus of GreatMountain, WoodsRunner X Tavi of GreatMountain and WoodsRunner X Kineo of GreatMountain. These fourth-generation cross puppies are from the WoodsRunner cross line and were sired by 'PR' Hurricane Tucker.  Atticus lives with Steve & Janice Hendrix in Tennessee. He's big brother to Bailey, a Baring son.  Atticus is very attuned to his humans and is greatly loved. Atticus is exceptionally smart and capable of logical thought.  Tavi lives with Kevin Hardesty in Kentucky. He's a big, strapping boy who loves kids more than anything else, except maybe his Chinook brother, Ranger.  Kineo is happily residing with Polly Campbell here in Maine.  Kineo shares a house with fellow canine, Mitch and sometimes works on a two-dog skijor team!

On April 9, 2002, WoodsRunner X Baxter CGC gave birth to two Chinook cross boys, WoodsRunner X Cooper of GreatMountain and WoodsRunner X Ande of GreatMountain. These are fourth generation crosses from the WoodsRunner cross line. The sire is 'PR' Frontier Jackson. Cooper lives with Steve Kyner and Deborah Ellington in Massachusetts. Ande lives with Maria and Chuck Sommer in New York.

On October 5, 2004, GreatMountain X North Trav'ler produced the third generation of our cross line with stud GR CH 'PR' Saghalie's Kaniksu Reign (Rainy).  There were seven puppies in the litter.  GreatMountain X Yukon Charley, the only girl, remains in our pack.  The rest of the pups are dispersed throughout the country.  To check out these pups, click here.

GR CH 'PR' Rain Mountain Moxie of Bear Creek gave birth to our first purebred litter on April 19, 2005.  The sire was Northeast Wind Moosilauke.  Following our strong tradition of producing boys, there was again only one female pup in the litter.  This girl, CH 'PR' GreatMountain Mahoosuc Blueberry, remains in our pack.  Click here to see these pups as adults.

GR CH 'PR' Hurricane Chocorua Moon gave birth to three wonderful pups sired by GR CH Cloudburst Kennebec River on October 1, 2005.  While we've loved all of the pups we've produced equally, we probably couldn't be any prouder of the only girl from this litter, GreatMountain Granite Abnaki.  She became the first GreatMountain Champion at age 6 months and became a Grand Champion by age 8 months, taking several Best of Breeds, including one at Premier against 18 other dogs.  She went on to become the 2006 National Champion of Champions at the National Specialty, again at 8 months of age.  She was the #4 2006 Top Ten Chinook and earned an Award of Merit in the 2006 Top Ten Competition (essentially it means she came in second).  To view all of the pups from this litter, click here

The Dogfish Litter

On April 5, 2006, GR CH 'PR' Hurricane Chocorua Moon delivered her second litter, sired by CH Balsam Ridge Tucker.  There were three girls and two boys in the litter.  This was the first time in GreatMountain history that we had more than one surviving female in a litter!  Click here to see the see these pups.

The Tribute Litter

On October 17, 2006, CH 'PR' Hurricane Nokomis Dream delivered the fourth generation of the GreatMountain cross line.  The sire is GreatMountain X Tanacross.  There were five puppies, three girls and two boys. Click here to see the pups.

The Mountain Litter

On June 14, 2007, GreatMountain X Yukon Charley delivered five puppies sired by Hurricane Crispin Soul.  There were three girls and two boys.  The pups were quite special as Charley was the only female from her mother, Trav'ler and Trav'ler was the only female from her mother, Cheena.  We're thrilled that the female line has continued through this breeding.  Click here to see the pups.
